What’s Involved in Ceiling Fan Installation
Ceiling fan installation is not a DIY job in NSW. Connecting any electrical wiring — including ceiling fan wiring — is illegal without a licence and voids your home insurance if something goes wrong.
A licensed ceiling fan installation includes checking your ceiling structure can safely support the fan, installing or verifying the ceiling outlet box, running wiring where required, fitting the fan bracket, assembling and hanging the fan, connecting all wiring to Australian Standards, and testing the fan before we leave. A Certificate of Electrical Safety is issued on completion.
The job typically takes 1–2 hours per fan depending on whether new wiring is required.
